At Oakgrove we have a variety of Student Voice projects. Student Voice means that the students at school can help shape the day-to-day and future needs of the school community. Student Councils Each tutor group votes 2 class members onto Year Councils. They take ideas forward from the tutor groups to Year Councils and vice versa. Three members of each Year Council get voted onto the Whole School Council. The Year Councils meet once monthly and all their minutes and matters arising go forward to the Whole School Council.
Any issues or matters arising from the Whole School Council go forward to Staff meeting or Senior Staff meetings, and representatives can ask staff to visit meetings to raise ideas. Students have been involved in a variety of projects including designing an Oakgrove Charter and planning to implement this as a visual artistic piece, to designing a shelter for students on the main car park, and hopefully get this installed soon!
Student Voice forms part of the V & E curriculum and aims to not only increase student participation in the running of the school but instill them with some skills for life. Other Student Voice groups include:
- Anti Bullying Committee (ABC)
- Faith and Religion at Oakgrove Group (FROG)
- Learning Ambassadors
- Peer Mediators
- Peer Mentors
