ADMISSION TO OAKGROVE SCHOOL IN YEAR 7 – SEPTEMBER 2016

Admission to the school is in line with the school’s admission criteria which are published annually.  Admission arrangements for students transferring from primary to secondary school in September are co-ordinated by the Local Authority.  For further details please read Admission Arrangements for Year 7 – September 2016.

The 2016 admission arrangements for Oakgrove School were finalised and adopted by the Governing Body on 23rd March 2015.

NURSERY

Oakgrove Nursery currently offers provision for children aged 3 and 4.  Applications can be made at any time however please note offers are subject to availability of places.

In-year admissions refer to applications made at any time after the initial September entry into Reception.

IN-YEAR ADMISSIONS FOR YEARS 7-11

In-year admissions refers to applications made at any time after the normal age of transfer at the end of primary school.

Parent/Carers should be aware that Oakgrove School is an oversubscribed school with more applicants than places available and each year many parent/carers are unsuccessful in their application for a place.  Please note that when a place does become available it is allocated strictly in accordance with the school’s admissions criteria.

ADMISSION APPEALS TO OAKGROVE SCHOOL

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Year 7 – September 2017

If you named Oakgrove School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel.  Following the initial allocation of places for Year 7 in September 2017, all unsuccessful applicants will be sent a letter providing further details as to why it wasn’t possible to allocate a place.

 

The appeals timetable* for Oakgrove School for students transferring to Year 7 in September 2017 will be as follows:

 

Friday, 31st March 2017 at 1pm Deadline to request an appeal form
(Please note the school closes for the Easter holidays at 1pm on Friday, 31st March 2017 and re-opens at 8.25am on Tuesday, 18th April 2017.)
Tuesday, 18th April 2017 at 3pm Deadline to lodge an appeal**
Monday, 22nd May 2017 late afternoon (precise time of hearing to be confirmed) Stage 1 hearing (all appellants are invited to attend)
Tuesday, 23rd May to Friday, 26th May 2017 Stage 2 individual hearings (precise days/times to be advised by the Clerk)

*Please note it may not be possible to include within this timetable any appeals that are lodged after the deadline.
A further round of appeals for unsuccessful applicants will be held in June 2017

**This is the deadline by which the completed appeal form must be received by the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel.

 

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Reception – September 2017

If you named Oakgrove Primary as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel.

The appeals timetable for children starting school for the first time in September 2017 will be as follows:

  • Deadline to request an appeal form – Friday, 5th May 2017 at 1pm
  • Deadline to lodge an appeal.  Forms must be completed and received at the school for the attention of the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel by Friday, 19th May 2017 at 1pm
  • For those appeal forms received on time these will be heard week commencing 19th June 2017

Please note it may not be possible to include within this timetable any appeals that are lodged after the deadline.

 

2018 Admission Arrangements for Oakgrove School

 

The 2018 admission arrangements were adopted by the Governing Body on 23rd February 2017.  Some amendments were made to the Year 7 and Primary policies in light of comments received during the consultation:

  • the oversubscription criteria for year 7 have been amended;
  • the published admission number for Year R has been reduced from 60 to 50 to incorporate in-year growth.
