A-Level Results Day 2017

A Level Results Success for Oakgrove!

Oakgrove School has achieved further success with its outstanding A Level results this summer, with over 53% of all entries being awarded A* – B grades.  This is yet another set of landmark results adding to the Sixth Form’s eight year history.

University applications have been hugely successful with students studying a variety of degree courses including Computer Science, Law, Multimedia Journalism, Accounting & Finance, Advertising and Primary teaching.

Top achievers included Andrew Fletcher, who earned a place to read Biochemistry with a Professional Placement at the University of Birmingham achieving A*s in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry and an A* grade in the Extended Project Qualification. Thomas Smith, Ciara Price and Aliyah Mahmood all gained one A* and two A grades.  Thomas achieved his grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics and he will be going on to read Mathematics. Ciara will be reading International Law and Globalisation having achieved her grades in Sociology, Government and Politics and Mathematics.  Aliyah’s grades in Psychology, Mathematics and Chemistry mean she will be reading Psychology in the new term.

We also have a number of students who have gained places on Degree Apprenticeships this year. Sam Howard has been offered an Accountancy apprenticeship with KPMG, Annabelle Ferguson has a Digital Technology Apprenticeship with Santander and Alfie Barton has gained a place with Network Rail on their IT Degree Apprenticeship scheme.

Ian Tett, Headteacher, said he was very pleased with the overall results and with some outstanding individual achievements it was a day for celebration.  Students and staff should be congratulated on their hard work and it was great to see our percentage of students obtaining A*-B increase further.  Oakgrove students will be looking forward to going on to study a wide range of subjects at prestigious institutions with a significant number going to Russell Group universities.
