Nursery

Nursery 2020/2021

(for children born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016)

Oakgrove Nursery currently offers provision for children aged 3 and 4. The main in-take for Nursery is the September following your child’s third birthday. 

Applications are open and the deadline for submitting an application for starting in September 2020 is 3pm on Friday, 20th March 2020. Applicants will be advised by email/ post by Friday, 3rd April 2020 if their application has been successful. Applications are not offered on a first come first served basis. Further details are provided on the application form.

To complete on a phone/ tablet/ computer the applicant needs to save it on to their device, complete the form and then save the completed form again. Then email the form with the supporting documentation to admissions@oakgrove.school.

Offers are subject to availability of places. The main intake for Nursery is the September following your child's third birthday. 

It should be noted that a place in the nursery class does not automatically guarantee admission to the Primary school.  Parents should refer to the Primary School admissions policy for further advice on applying for a place in Reception.

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Year R: September 2020

Following national offer day of 16th April 2020, if you named Oakgrove Primary and Nursery School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel.  

The appeals timetable* for Oakgrove Primary and Nursery School for students starting school in Year R in September 2020 will be as follows:

Monday, 18th May 2020 at 3pm - Deadline to request an appeal form

Wednesday, 20th May 2020 at 3pm - Deadline to lodge an appeal**

Week Commencing 15th June 2020 - Appeal hearings will be held during this week. Appellants will be advised as to precise day and time by the clerk.

Should you wish to appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place at Oakgrove Primary and Nursery School, please email the admissions team at admissions@oakgrove.school providing the name of the child, their date of birth and an email address where the appeal paperwork can be sent.  Requests for appeal forms must be made by 3pm on Monday, 18th May 2020. 

Please note the School will be closed for the Easter holidays from the end of school on Friday 3rd April until it reopens on Monday 20th April.  No appeals are processed during the school holidays.

*Please note it may not be possible to include within this timetable any appeals that are lodged after the deadline.

In year admissions refer to applications made at any other time after the initial September entry into Reception.

Parent/Carers should be aware that Oakgrove School is an oversubscribed school with more applicants than places available and each year many parent/carers are unsuccessful in their application for a place.  Please note that when a place does become available it is allocated strictly in accordance with the school’s admissions criteria.

Applications for an in year admission for Oakgrove School (Reception through to Year 6)  should be made on an Oakgrove Primary In Year Application form (link below).  This form is for applying for a place at Oakgrove School for the academic year September 2019/20.

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Year 7: September 2020

Following national offer day of Monday 2nd March 2020, if you named Oakgrove School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel. 

Following the initial allocation of places for Year 7 in September 2020, all unsuccessful applicants were sent a letter providing further details as to why it wasn’t possible to allocate a place. 

The appeals timetable* for Oakgrove School for students transferring to Year 7 in September 2020 will be as follows:

Monday, 30th March 2020 at 3pm

In-year admissions refers to applications made at any time after the normal age of transfer at the end of primary school.

Parent/Carers should be aware that Oakgrove School is an oversubscribed school with more applicants than places available and each year many parent/carers are unsuccessful in their application for a place.  Please note that when a place does become available it is allocated strictly in accordance with the school’s admissions criteria.

Oakgrove School maintains a waiting list throughout the academic year. The waiting list will be ranked in accordance with the oversubscription criteria and length of time on the list will not be a factor in offering a place. This means that children will move up and down the list as other children are or removed. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place at the school.

Applications for an in-year admission can be made directly to Oakgrove School.

Admission Policies

The 2019 admission arrangements were adopted by the Governing Body on 22nd February 2018.  A small amendment was made to the Year 7 and Primary policies to correctly reference the application process followed by Milton Keynes Local Authority in managing the co-ordinated scheme.  No further updates were made.
