There was ‘A Kind of Magic’ atmosphere in Oakgrove Theatre when students performed Queen’s ‘Schools Will Rock You’, to packed audiences over three days.

Based on the worldwide smash hit musical, ‘We Will Rock You’, Oakgrove School developed their own version of the show. Taking on roles, such as Galileo Figaro, Scaramouche and Killer Queen, the students sang the well-known, loved songs that all ages in the packed audiences were able to rock along to.

Pupils from Middleton, Monkston and Oakgrove Primary Schools were delighted to be invited to the matinee and friends, family and the local community filled the theatre during the evening performances.

Attending the matinee, Headteacher Ian Tett said:

“Oakgrove School’s talented students brought to life this fun hit musical by Ben Elton, with songs that everyone knows and enjoyed singing along to. The staff and students worked incredibly hard to produce a highly entertaining show which, from the audience’s reaction, proved to be a huge success and a thoroughly enjoyable performance.”

The original show ran for an impressive 12 years at the Dominion Theatre in London and toured internationally.
