Lights, Camera, Action for BBC Young Reporter News Day

Budding journalists, news readers and camera operators at Oakgrove School made the news for real, by recording stories that matter to them, when they took part in the BBC Young Reporter News Day 2019.

The 30 students, researched, scripted and filmed interviews with teachers and other students on topical issues, such as knife crime, online safety and young people’s health and well-being for video and written news reports.

BBC Young Reporter is an exciting annual opportunity for young people to get involved with the broadcaster, who encourage students to develop the skills they need to create and understand the media. The project is backed by presenters Huw Edwards, Tina Daheley, Steph McGovern, The One Show’s Alex Jones, BBC Newsbeat’s Roisin Hastie and Ben Mundy and Newsround’s Ricky Boleto.
