Oakgrove Students Congratulated for Excellent GCSE Results

12 August 2021

A combination of resilience, determination and diligence by Oakgrove students has meant they have achieved impressive GCSE results this year. Almost 20% of all GCSE grades awarded were grade 8 or above and there was an increase in students receiving grades 9-5 in English and Maths.

Delighted with the commitment that the students have shown in achieving these results, and the highest number ever preferring to remain at Oakgrove to join the sixth form, Headteacher Ian Tett said:

“The school is incredibly proud of the motivation and success of our students in attaining these results. The grades are thoroughly deserved and reflect their high ability, in what has been another challenging year for them.

“Consistency and fairness was ensured by our dedicated and professional teachers, using robust mechanisms to grade multiple pieces of work by students, including coursework, in-class assessments and mock examinations.

“Sixth form staff are looking forward to welcoming the students back after the summer break to work with them on building on their accomplishments in their chosen subjects and for those students who are pursuing other opportunities, whether that’s starting an apprenticeship, traineeship or college, we wish them continued success.”
